Primary text

If the condition for emancipation is nullified through sale or the death of the slave woman, the child is not freed. This is because the condition applied to the sale of the mother's person for the purpose of emancipation, not to the status of the offspring itself. If the condition is not met regarding the mother, it is not met regarding the child. This differs from the child of a *mudabbara*, whose status follows the mother even if the *tadbir* (manumission upon death) is nullified concerning her.
