What is the legal standing of manumission (*itq*), conditional manumission (*tadbir*), and bequest for manumission upon death during terminal illness?

Primary text
Manumission during terminal illness, *tadbir*, and bequest for manumission are all subject to being covered by the one-third limit of the estate, because the Prophet, peace be upon him, did not approve the manumission of six slaves by a man in his illness beyond one-third of his property. This is because it is a gratuitous transfer of wealth, akin to a gift. If more than one-third is manumitted, only the one-third takes effect.
