Primary text

If the husband accepts first, the entire unborn child is emancipated through him: his share by virtue of ownership, and the remainder by extension (*sarāyā*). He owes compensation for the child's value. Subsequently, when the son accepts, the entire mother is emancipated by the son. They then reconcile their shares (*yataqāṣṣān*), and each must return the excess value to the other party.
