What is the ruling regarding the manumission of a slave whose master testified to his freedom, followed by the master purchasing him?

Book of Manumission
Primary text
If a master testifies to the freedom of his slave, and then purchases that slave, the slave is freed. This ruling is held by Al-Awza'i, Malik, Al-Shafi'i, Ibn Al-Mundhir, and it follows the logical extension of Abu Hanifa's school. No right of Wala' (allegiance) is established for the buyer because he does not claim it, nor for the seller because he denies having freed him.
