The Hadith mentioning that the one who converts a person is the closest to them in life and death, which is used as evidence for the permissibility of the converter marrying the convert, has been deemed weak by Ahmad. Ahmad stated that its narrator, Abd al-Aziz (meaning Ibn Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz), is not known for his retention and mastery of narration.
