Primary text

If the dower specified was ten swine, one view holds that it should be divided based on the number of swine. The second view is that their value should be considered as if they were items whose sale is permissible, similar to assessing the value of injuries as if the injured party were a slave. If the dower consisted of a dog, two swine, and three jars of wine, there are three views: one is to divide the dower based on their perceived value according to their own system. A second view is to divide it based on the number of categories of items, allotting one-third of the dower to each category. The third view is to divide the entire dower equally based on the total count of items, meaning each item receives one-sixth of the dower.
