Primary text
If he chooses one, the other is not entitled to any dower because the separation is established by their collective conversion before entry into the marriage, so she acquires no dower, similar to an annulment due to a defect in one party. Furthermore, it is a marriage that cannot be ratified in Islam, so no dower is due if consummation did not occur, similar to a Zoroastrian marrying his sister and both converting before consummation. The same ruling applies when all converts simultaneously when the number exceeds four, he chooses four, and the marriages of the remainder are annulled; they receive no dower for the reason mentioned.
