The wife of one's father is forbidden, whether the father is near or far, inheriting or not, related by kinship or fosterage, based on the verse, "And do not marry those whom your fathers married from among women, except what has already passed" (Quran 4:22). This prohibition extends to the wives of grandfathers (paternal or maternal) and includes any woman whom the father or son had intercourse with via legal ownership (milk Yamin) or suspicion of marriage, which is treated like marriage in terms of prohibition. There is no known scholarly disagreement on this matter.
