What is the legal consequence if a non-Muslim husband consummates the marriage and subsequently converts to Islam?

If the husband consummates the marriage before converting, then converts, any wife who has not converted before the end of her waiting period ('Iddah) becomes irrevocably forbidden to him at the point the two religions diverge.
