Primary text

It is recommended that a single sermon be delivered by the guardian (wali), the groom, or another individual. This aligns with what is authentically transmitted from the Prophet and the early generations (Salaf), making it the superior path to follow.

Supporting text

Al-Shafi'i held the view that two sermons are legislated: the preliminary sermon mentioned, and a second sermon delivered by the groom prior to his acceptance of the proposal.
