Is the presence of two witnesses required for the validity of a marriage established through manumission as dower?

Two witnesses are necessary if the general requirement for witnesses in a marriage contract is upheld. This is based on the prophetic statement, "There is no marriage except with a guardian and two witnesses." Imam Ahmad affirmed this requirement in the narration of the majority.
