Primary text
If he married two sisters, consummated relations with both, and then they all embrace Islam together, and he chooses one, he must not consummate with the chosen one until the *iddah* of her sister expires, to avoid simultaneous relations with two sisters. Similarly, if he was married to more than four, consummated with all eight, and then chose four and separated from four, he must not consummate with any of the chosen four until the *iddah* of the separated wives expires, to avoid having relations with more than four concurrently. If he had five wives, divorces one, he may consummate with three of the chosen four, but not the fourth until the *iddah* of the divorced one ends. If he had six, divorces two, he may consummate with two of the chosen. If he had seven, divorces three, he may consummate with one of the chosen, and not the others until the *iddah* of the separated wives ends. For each expired *iddah* of a separated wife, he may consummate with one of the chosen wives. This is according to the main school doctrine (*qiyas al-madhhab*).
