Primary text

If the master frees himself and his wife (who was his slave) simultaneously, the marriage contract is not dissolved by this act. This is because if the marriage is not dissolved merely by the freeing of the wife alone, it is even less likely to be dissolved when both are freed together.

Supporting text

It is plausible that what Ahmad intended by saying 'the marriage is dissolved' is that the wife retains the option to annul the marriage, based on the narration that permits her dissolution if her husband was free before the manumission.
