If they entered a marriage while the woman was observing her 'Iddah, or if they bring the dispute during her 'Iddah, they must be separated because initiating marriage to her during that period is impermissible. If the affirmation is sought after the expiration of the 'Iddah, the marriage is affirmed due to the permissibility of initiating the marriage then.
