Is the status of a Companion of the Prophet (Sahabi) considered insufficient qualification (kuf' for marriage) relative to a Successor (Tabi'i)?

The position stating that a Companion of the Prophet is not considered an equal match (laysa bi kuf') is incorrect. The Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, were the majority of those who embraced Islam and were the best of the Ummah. Therefore, it is impermissible to assert that they are not equal matches for the Successors.
