Primary text
If separation occurs before consummation because the husband embraced Islam, the wife is entitled to half of the stipulated dower (*Mahr al-Musamma*) if the specification of the dower was valid. If the specification was invalid (such as stipulating wine or pork as dower), she receives half of the customary dower (*Mahr Mithli*) for a woman like her. This ruling is established because the separation resulted from the husband's action.
