Acceptance of a gift of property from a relative is permissible for the recipient. This ruling extends to accepting a bequest (Wasiyyah) made in favor of the recipient by an executor (Wasi). The legal rationale is that if one is permitted to own property acquired through purchase, which involves the expenditure of one's own wealth, then ownership acquired without compensation (i.e., by gift or bequest) is certainly permissible.
