What is the consequence if a slave provides proof of prior payment after the lot casting determined his freedom?

Primary text

If proof of prior payment is presented after the lot casting, the slave is freed because the lot casting merely specifies the manumission; it is not the act of manumission itself. Proof is stronger, thus correcting the lot's indication and confirming the true status, meaning the lot designated the wrong individual for freedom.

An alternative view, attributed to Abu Bakr and Ibn Hamid, suggests that both slaves are manumitted, analogous to the ruling provided in cases of divorce.
