Primary text
The earnings and the indemnity for harm done to the child should belong to the mother because her child is a part of her, following her status, similar to her other parts. Moreover, her payment of the *kitabah* is a cause for her manumission and the attainment of freedom for the child, so the earnings should be expended toward this, similar to directing it to her own debt, as her inability results in her continued enslavement and the forfeiture of the child's potential earnings to the master.
