What is the legal effect if the master pardons a portion of the *kitabah* debt?

If the master pardons a part of the debt, the Mukatab is absolved of that portion and remains obligated for the remainder of the *kitabah* amount. This is due to the principle that absolution is treated as equivalent to performance (payment).
