To whom does the loyalty (*wala'*) accrue when a *mukatab* emancipates his slave with the master's permission?
General Chapter

Book of Mukātaba (Contractual Manumission)
Primary text
If the emancipation is validated by the master's permission, the loyalty should accrue to the master. This is because the validity of the emancipation itself stems from the master's permission, meaning the *mukatab* acted as the master's representative.

Alternatively, the loyalty is suspended: if the *mukatab* eventually achieves full freedom, the loyalty belongs to him; otherwise, it belongs to his master, just as with the lineage of slaves inherited through *dhawi al-arham*.
