The ruling on forgiveness when the master allows forgiveness of any amount from the writing debt using the particle 'min' (of/some).
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Mukātaba (Contractual Manumission)
Primary text
If the master says, 'Forgive him what you wish,' and the wish is to forgive the entire debt, the entire debt is forgiven because the bequest encompasses it. If the master says, 'Forgive him what you wish of the writing wealth,' the entirety cannot be forgiven because the particle 'min' implies partiality, thus it does not encompass the whole.
