What is the ruling if an indentured slave commits an offense punishable by retaliation (*qisas*) for something less than life?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Mukātaba (Contractual Manumission)
Primary text
If the offense committed by the indentured slave warrants retaliation, the master (*sayyid*) may execute the retaliation (*qisas*), provided the offense is less than a capital crime (i.e., less than homicide). This is because the slave is retaliated against on behalf of his master.
