When a master who has a jointly-owned Mukatab dies, and one partner acknowledges the manumission contract while the other denies it, and the slave pays the portion owed to the acknowledging partner, only half of the remaining amount due for full freedom applies. This illustrates that the contract operates proportionally under specific circumstances.
