To whom does the WALA' (allegiance/inheritance rights) of a Mukatab belong upon his manumission?

The WALA' of the Mukatab belongs to his buyer upon his manumission. This is because the right of the Mukatab transfers to the buyer, making the buyer the one who grants freedom. The Prophet, peace be upon him, instructed Aisha regarding a similar matter, saying, 'Buy and emancipate, for the WALA' belongs only to the one who emancipates.' The Prophet also disapproved when his wife's people attempted to stipulate the WALA' for themselves, informing them of its invalidity.
