Primary text
If a mute person commits slander (*qadhf*) and later regains speech, then denies the slander, this denial is not accepted concerning the slander. This is because the apparent situation has established a right belonging to another party, preventing the acceptance of the denial. Consequently, the prescribed punishment (*hadd*) for slander is incumbent upon him.
