How is the Li'an conducted if the wife is secluded and unable to appear publicly?

If the wife is shy (khafirah) and cannot leave her residence for her needs, the judge must send a deputy accompanied by two upright witnesses (Udūl) to conduct the mutual imprecation between them. Sending only the deputy alone is permissible, as the requirement for a group (of witnesses) is not obligatory.
