There are two differing opinions regarding whether permanent prohibition is established upon the performance of *Li'an* in a void marriage where a child exists. One view states that it is established because the *Li'an* is considered valid, resembling the *Li'an* between a valid husband and wife. The other view states that it is not established because separation (*furqa*) is not achieved through it, as there is no valid marriage contract to be terminated by the *Li'an*.
