What is the ruling if an accused person does not self-deny the accusation but lacks witnesses or the means to perform the *Li'an* (mutual cursing)?

The prescribed legal punishment (*Hadd*) must be implemented upon the accused. If part of the punishment has already been administered, and the accused then offers to perform *Li'an*, it must be accepted, as *Li'an* invalidates the entire punishment, and consequently, invalidates a portion thereof, analogous to presenting evidence (*Bayyinah*).
