Primary text

The ruling concerning the permissibility of *Li'an* for paternity denial in a void marriage remains the same whether the man believed the marriage to be valid or not. This is because the marriage itself is fundamentally not a valid marriage contract, thus equating the situation to a man performing *Li'an* against a non-relative woman while mistakenly believing her to be his wife.
