If the wife had demanded the *hadd* during her lifetime, her legal guardians may stand in her place to pursue the demand. If the demand is pursued, the husband has the right to nullify it by performing the *li'an*.
Supporting text
If the wife's guardians do not pursue the demand, the husband is not required to engage in *li'an*, as there is no need for it when the *hadd* is not demanded.
