Does the master have a right to the offspring of a female slave?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of the Oath of Abstention (Ila')
Primary text
The master does not have a right to demand procreation from the female slave by her husband. Consequently, if a master swears an oath to either practice coitus interruptus (azl) or not seek procreation from her, the oath does not establish his right to claim the offspring.
Supporting text
The permission of the master for coitus interruptus (azl) is sought only because it can harm the female slave by potentially decreasing her value.
