Primary text

The oath constitutes an Iilaa' if conditioned upon something generally unlikely to occur within four months, such as the appearance of the Dajjal, the Beast, or the pronouncement of one's own death or the death of a specific person, or the return of a specific person from Mecca when customary travel time exceeds four months. This is because the condition is presumed not to be met within the statutory period, equating it to an absolute prohibition of intercourse.
