What is the ruling if a husband swears two identical oaths of ila' (vow not to have intercourse) for the same duration?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of the Oath of Abstention (Ila')
Primary text
If a man states, 'By Allah, I will not have intercourse with you for a year,' and then repeats the exact oath, it constitutes only one instance of ila' supported by two oaths, unless he intended the second oath to cover a different year. In this case, there is one ruling of ila', one time frame, and one expiation required.
