Does inviting someone to eat without granting ownership break an oath sworn against giving a gift?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Oaths
Primary text
If a person swears not to give a gift and subsequently invites the person to eat (providing sustenance), the oath is not broken because no ownership of property was transferred; only permission to consume was granted. Evidence for this is that the invitee cannot dispose of the provisions beyond eating them.
