Is it permissible to swear by disavowal of Islam (al-Barā’ah min al-Islām)?

It is not permissible to swear by disavowal from Islam. The Prophet, peace be upon him, stated: 'Whoever says, 'I am free from Islam,' if he is lying, he is as he said, and if he is truthful, he will not return to Islam safely.' This is narrated by Abu Dawud. This prohibition is absolute.
