Primary text

When one swears by Allah, makes a statement of *Zihar* (unlawful association with one's wife), and swears an oath to free a slave, and subsequently violates all three conditions, each violation requires its corresponding obligation: an expiation of the oath, the *Zihar* expiation, and the freeing of the slave. Overlap of rulings only occurs when the category or genus is identical, unlike distinct types of punishments or expiations where their causes differ.

There is an alternative view that only one expiation is due. This view is considered analogous to the school's general position and aligns with the view of Al-Shafi'i and Abu 'Ubayd, based on the reasoning that swearing by different attributes of Allah still constitutes a single oath requiring only one expiation.
