Saying, 'I swear by Allah,' 'Aleytu by Allah,' 'Halaftu by Allah,' 'Aleytu by Allah,' 'Halyfun by Allah,' or 'Qasamun by Allah,' constitutes an oath, regardless of whether the speaker explicitly intended it as an oath or spoke generally. The ruling is the same as saying 'Uqsimu billah' (I swear by Allah) in its details, as Iylā' (vows of abstinence), Halaf (oath), and Qasam (swearing) are synonymous, as supported by the verse concerning Iylā' (Quran 2:226) and documented historical usage.
