The gifting of food, lending of the permitted slave's mount, and hosting of a feast are permissible, provided that these actions do not constitute extravagance (*israf*). This position is held by Abu Hanifa. The evidence for permissibility includes the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) accepting the invitation of a slave, as narrated by Abu Sa'id, the freed slave of Abu Usayd, who hosted a wedding feast while still a slave, attended by Companions such as Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, Hudhayfah, and Abu Dharr. Furthermore, this practice is customary among merchants and is therefore permitted, similar to how a wife is permitted to give charity using a small piece of bread from her husband's house.
