Primary text
The purchase made by the authorized agent (*al-Ma'dhun lahu*) of an individual upon whom freedom is incumbent (*ya'tiqu 'ala Rabb al-Mal*) with the permission of the principal is valid, and the slave is immediately freed. If the authorized agent has debts that consume his entire worth and assets, and the debt is considered attached to his person, then the agent must pay the value of the freed slave to his creditors because it was the agent whose act of freeing the slave caused the loss to the creditors.
