What is the status of the capital if the Mudarabah period expires while the capital is in the form of merchandise?

If the stipulated period for the Mudarabah expires while the capital remains in the form of merchandise, the arrangement transitions into a loan (Qard) upon the expiration, provided the owner agrees to this condition. The merchandise must then be sold for the transaction to be considered a settlement of the debt (Qard).
