Primary text

If the pledge is destroyed by a third party while held by the neutral trustee, the destroyer is liable for its value. This value stands in place of the original pledge and becomes the new pledge in the trustee's possession. The trustee has the right to claim this value as it substitutes the original pledge, and also retains the right to hold and safeguard it.
