What is the ruling on the sale of a pledged item (Rahn) when the pledgee gives permission after the debt term has expired?

If the pledgor is permitted by the pledgee to sell the pledged item after the debt term has become due, the sale is valid. The pledgee's right then becomes attached to the sale price. This ruling is held by Al-Shafi'i.
