What is the proper recitation for the second group of followers (Ta'ifa) in each unit of prayer?

The second group completes their prayer reciting Al-Fatiha and a Surah in every unit, because what they make up is considered the beginning of their prayer, and they did not have the Imam recite a Surah with them. The apparent ruling is that they should commence recitation, seek refuge, and recite Al-Fatiha and a Surah when they separate from the Imam. However, if the narration stating it is the end of their prayer is followed, they should not seek refuge, say Ta'awwudh, nor recite an additional Surah. In any case, they should keep it brief, and if they recite a Surah, it should be short, or one or two verses.
