Action when the second follower joins the first follower in the right row

If the first follower makes *takbir* on the Imam's right, and then a second person comes and makes *takbir* on his left, the Imam moves both of them behind him, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) did with Jabir and Jabar. The Imam should not advance forward unless there is congestion behind him. If the Imam advances, it is permissible. If the second *takbir* is made with the first on the right, and they both move back, it is permissible. If a third person joins them while they are in *tashahhud*, he makes *takbir* and sits to the right or left of his companion, as moving back during *tashahhud* is difficult.
