Primary text

It is recommended to add the phrase "Al-Salatu khayrun min an-nawm" twice after saying "Hayya 'ala al-Falah" in the Fajr Adhan. This practice is known as Tashwib. This view is held by Ibn 'Umar, Al-Hasan Al-Basri, Ibn Sirin, Al-Zuhri, Malik, Al-Thawri, Al-Awza'i, Ishaq, Abu Thawr, and Al-Shafi'i according to the sound opinion attributed to him. This is supported by the narration to Abu Mahdhurah where the Prophet specified this addition for the dawn prayer.

Supporting text

Abu Hanifah mandates Tashwib in Fajr to be the repetition of "Hayya 'ala al-Salah" twice and "Hayya 'ala al-Falah" twice between the Adhan and Iqamah. Some scholars, including Ishaq and Abu 'Isa, consider the Tashwib disliked, viewing it as an innovation that some early Muslims rejected.
