Primary text

There is disagreement regarding the necessity of Tasleem after Sujud al-Tilawah. Al-Nakh'i, Al-Hasan, Sa'id ibn Jubayr, and Yahya ibn Wathab, along with a reported opinion from Abu Hanifa, hold that there is no Tasleem. The view supporting the requirement of Tasleem, chosen by Al-Kharqi, is based on the Prophet's statement: 'Its opening is the Takbir and its conclusion is the Tasleem.' This view argues that since it is a prayer with Ihram (a state of consecration), it requires a concluding Salam, similar to other prayers. It does not require Tashahhud because it has no bowing and thus no Tashahhud, like the funeral prayer (Janazah).

Ahmad, in one narration, stated he was unsure about the Tasleem. Al-Shafi'i has differing views on the matter.
