Primary text

If the Imam prays in a place significantly higher than the followers, Ibn Hamid stated that their prayer is invalid, following Al-Awza'i, because the prohibition implies invalidity of the prohibited act. However, the sounder opinion, held by Al-Qadi and the proponents of opinion, is that the prayer is not invalidated, because 'Ammar completed his prayer, and the prohibition is based on an underlying consequence (lifting the gaze), which itself does not invalidate the prayer, so its cause is less likely to invalidate it.
