What are the dispensations in travel that apply equally to both short and long journeys?
Chapter on Facing the Qiblah
Al-Mughni
Book of Prayer
Primary text
The judge states that three rulings in travel are equal in application for both journeys where shortening prayer is permitted (long travel) and those where it is not (short travel): Tayammum, consuming carrion out of necessity, and performing voluntary prayer upon a riding animal. All other concessions, such as shortening the prayer, combining prayers, and wiping over leather socks for three days, are specific to long travel.
