Effect on prayer of invoking a supplication ('Du'a') in response to the Adhan during Salah

If a worshipper invokes a supplication (Du'a) during the formal prayer in response to the Adhan, the prayer becomes invalid. This is because such an act constitutes addressing a created being (human speech or address), which invalidates the sincerity required for the prayer.
